Spray Foam Magazine’s 2026 Fall Issue is LIVE

SPRAY FOAM MAGAZINE – Spray Foam Magazine is proud to announce the release of its Fall 2026 Issue, brought to you by Elastochem Specialty Chemicals Inc.

There’s something distinctive about turning our attention north each fall, as Spray Foam Magazine shines a spotlight on Canada and the people, projects, and innovation shaping the industry across the country. Canada’s climate, geography, and construction challenges have long made it an important proving ground for spray foam, coatings, and waterproofing, and the projects in these pages show just how diligent Canadian contractors can be.

Our cover feature, “Royal Treatment,” takes us near Calgary, Alberta, where Beyond Foam helped turn a homeowner’s vision of a modern-day castle into one seriously insulated kingdom. At nearly 17,000 square feet, this home is anything but ordinary. Think spires, a spiral slide, a recessed ball pit, and plenty of spaces designed for adventure. Behind all that fun is some serious building science, with Elastochem closed-cell foam installed throughout the home to help protect this castle from Calgary’s demanding climate.

Our Canadian tour doesn’t stop there. We head east to the shores of Lake Huron for “Foam with a View,” where The Spray Foam Guy is tackling a custom dream home with closed-cell foam. Then it’s on to Halifax, Nova Scotia, for “Between a Rock and a Dry Place,” where a tight urban construction site called for a blindside waterproofing solution.

Together, these stories are a great reminder that there is no “typical” spray foam project. Different climates, structures, and challenges require contractors to understand not only the products they spray, but the building science behind them.

Speaking of knowing what you’re doing, “Respect the Recoat Window,” our polyurea feature from Lagoonfest Texas may be one of the best cautionary tales in this issue. What should have been a straightforward recoat became a full-blown rescue after poor application left areas off-ratio and off-mix, including a two-part primer that was actually rolled onto the concrete one component at a time. The result was a disaster that had to be handed over to the experts so they could step in and get the job done right. It’s a dramatic example of why training, preparation, proper application, and respecting recoat windows matter.

That lesson pairs perfectly with Dudley Primeaux’s article, “I’m a Certified Polyurea Applicator,” on polyurea certification: earning the certification is only the beginning. Applying that knowledge every day is what ultimately separates a trained applicator from a true professional.

Finally, we want to acknowledge why we chose “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.” That sentiment perfectly reflects one of the qualities that defined our founder, Doug Commette. Doug brought an unmistakable enthusiasm to this industry, the people in it, and the stories behind the work. His genuine curiosity and excitement were contagious, and that passion became part of the foundation of Spray Foam Magazine. It is a characteristic of Doug’s that we continue to carry forward in every issue.
