Spray Foam Magazine – Summer 2026 – The Gaskins family has run Insulation By Cohen's for three generations. Cohen Gaskins founded the company with his wife, Susie, in 1976. Now their son, President David Gaskins Sr, is in charge, along with help from his two sons, Vice Presidents David and Ethan. This South Carolina-based insulation company has grown to include 21 branches across six states, and with that expansion came the need to try new and innovative things, such as integrating JobPro Technology into their operations. The technology was new to them, but the spirit behind it was not.

Cohen’s was originally a drywall and paint company and still operates as a sister company nearby. Insulation By Cohen’s was born out of a need to problem-solve and get ahead of the competition.

“My grandfather was tired of the local insulation company always being behind, so he told my dad to figure out how to do insulation,” said Ethan. “Before long, they started bidding on jobs and slowly built it into what it is today.”

For the Gaskins family, foam is practically in their blood. Along with David and Ethan Gaskins, brother Cohen III and sister Sarah also work at the company. The Gaskin siblings take their roles to heart, and consider themselves owner-operators in the truest sense.

“From the time we turned 12, we were always helping out during the summers and getting accustomed to thinking about foam and learning all the different jobs,” said Vice President Ethan Gaskins. “I remember riding around in the truck and carrying a little canned foam gun.”

The Gaskins siblings learned everything they know from their family’s elders, and strive to keep a balance between tradition and innovation. A decade ago, the company only had three branches under their belt, but that number’s more than doubled now. By acquiring companies, they now have a sizable footprint up and down the East Coast, from Pennsylvania to Florida.

“We find owner-operators who have solid businesses and want to scale with us,” Ethan explains. “A lot of smaller companies do good work, but maybe have trouble offering health insurance or benefits to their team. We’re positioned to help them.”

Doubling your operational size in a decade is no easy feat. Insulation by Cohen’s is closing in on around 1,000 employees with no sign of slowing down. One of the best moves they’ve made throughout this expansion process occurred three years ago, when they decided to use JobPro Technology to streamline their daily operations.

Before using JobPro, they did everything the old-fashioned way, with pen and paper. It was how they’d always operated, and it wasn’t causing any problems– at first. But as their branches began to get geographically more spread out, they realized they were slowly being buried alive in never-ending paperwork. It was clear they’d need to explore other options, and fast.

Ethan had heard of the tech through the industry grapevine, but it was a chance phone call with JobPro’s owner, Robin Reavis, that officially set the wheels in motion. The Gaskins were all blown away by the JobPro demo, and later, by the onboarding process.

“A lot of companies go, ‘Here's our software, now fit your company into our boxes.” But with JobPro, it was more like, ‘Here's our software. How can we fit our boxes around you?’” said Ethan.

During onboarding, JobPro visited the Insulation by Cohen’s main branch to get a feel for how they operate, and to help them get the most use out of the software.

Onboarding all operations to a brand-new system is beyond daunting. As Ethan explained, it’s not like you can shut down your business for a week until it’s all done, it’s more like changing all four tires when you’re still racing at 100 mph. Everything happens live and in real-time, and having JobPro there every step of the way was a major comfort. Within a few months, even the most tech-skeptical employees were raving about what a game-changer JobPro was, and wondering how they ever got by without it.

“Everything’s at your fingertips, and you don’t have to be in the office. There’s so much flexibility,” said Ethan. “It’s tough to choose a favorite feature, but I think having scheduling, payroll, and profitability all in one spot is invaluable. We can revisit all our records with just a quick search.”

From Ethan’s perspective, interactions with the JobPro team often feel collaborative. Because they have in-house developers, JobPro loves to hear from their customers, and is constantly updating their products based on feedback they’ve received.

“I always tell my guys, if you think the system should do something, just ask, because it probably already does. And if it doesn’t, sometimes JobPro will add the feature later. Even after three years of using it, I always find something new I didn’t know it could do.”

JobPro has helped Insulation By Cohen’s scale to new heights. This family-run insulation company can manage all 21 branches from anywhere– gone are the days of paperwork piles and chaotic record keeping, and they couldn’t be happier.
