Spray Foam Magazine's 2025 Winter Issue is LIVE!
The Loss of A Legend
"We are heartbroken by the unexpected passing of Doug Commette, a true legend in the spray foam industry and a cherished member of the Spray Foam Magazine family. Doug was the co-owner of Niche Digital Media, the company that publishes Spray Foam Magazine, and his vision, leadership, and passion helped shape not only our publication but the industry as a whole.
Doug was married to Margo Commette, our executive editor, and our hearts are especially with Margo and family during this unimaginably difficult time. Doug’s impact reached far beyond business. He was a mentor, a friend, and a guiding force whose influence will continue to inspire us for years to come. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who were touched by his remarkable life and career."

Remembering Doug Commette
"Doug was a true pioneer for the Sprayfoam industry. Sprayfoam.com and Sprayfoam Magazine revolutionized the way SPF industry business owners advertised and marketed their businesses. Doug was always on the forefront of technology and loved continuing education and evolution more than anyone I’ve ever known. He was an extremely smart business person with continuous ideas for improvement. His impact on me, his family and friends and our entire industry will be missed tremendously."
-Ted Medford, Profoam Corporation
“Doug embraced adventure, freedom, and the thrill of the ride, and those passions defined the way he lived and the way he will be remembered.”
- Ken Anderson, Profoam Corporation
“Much of my professional growth will always be attributed to you, and I will always be a part of your legacy. Doug Commette, I bet your surfboard is ripping up those clouds! Rest easy, my friend."
- Todd Bolton, Synergy Spray Foam & Air Conditioning
“I’m still in disbelief about Doug, and I am truly sad. I am going to miss you, my friend. Ah, the memories, though… Life is too short; Live, Laugh and Love…”
- Dudley J Primeaux II, Primeaux Associates LLC
“Doug was a big idea guy, with the balls and the brains to put his ideas into action. In many ways, his ideas became cornerstones of the industry. Long before SFWW it was Doug and Margo moving information and connecting the industry. RIP, Doug. As this industry continues, so too will your legacy.”
- Bill Bilben, Spray Foam World Wide
SPRAY FOAM MAGAZINE – As winter settles in, the Spray Foam Magazine Team kicked off our SPF journey in sunny Florida, where the warmth was a welcome contrast to the colder destinations ahead. It’s no surprise that football star Robert Hainsey, center for the Jacksonville Jaguars, opted for open-cell foam in his attic. Just as football season was gearing up, he and his fiancée detected a foul odor and discoloration on the vents in one of the upstairs bathrooms of their newly purchased home in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. After a thorough inspection, the HVAC crew identified the source of the problem and sought additional expertise to resolve it.
From Florida, we traveled north to Georgia, where we connected with a “foamily” that has thrived in the SPF industry for generations. We were eager to learn their secrets to sustained success in this demanding yet rewarding field and discovered what it’s truly like to work alongside “foamily.”
Continuing our journey upward, we arrived in Sioux City, where we showcased the critical role geotechnical foam plays in supporting a new natural gas pipeline. The contractor explained how trench breakers create a robust barrier between the pipeline and the surrounding soil, effectively preventing erosion, soil washouts, and loss of backfill support.
Farther north, in the quiet woods of Longville, MN, we met a contractor who transformed his backyard into a natural swimming pond complete with waterfalls, a bog filter, and even a swim-up grain-silo bar.
Finally, we bundled up and headed even farther north to Canada, where we visited a family-owned hot tub business to uncover why they integrate SPF into their designs. Feeling inspired by the innovation up north, we enjoyed some rejuvenating bubbles, waved goodbye to our Canadian friends, and wrapped up our journey.
In our events section, amid all the exciting happenings in the industry, be sure to RSVP for March 22, 2026, for our SprayFoam 2026 Welcome & Contractor of the Year Reveal Party in Las Vegas.
