    The Galt House Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky, has long been woven into the fabric of American history. Originally built in 1835 as the home of renowned physician and botanist Dr. W.C. Galt, the hotel quickly became a central hub during the Civil War. In 1862, Union General William “Bull” Nelson, a Kentucky native, used the hotel as his base of operations. Tragedy struck on January 11, 1865, when a devastating fire left the hotel in ruins. read more
