Spray Foam Magazine – Fall 2025 – NCFI’s chemists, working closely with members of their United States of Spray Foam contractor program, have created an innovative line of seasonally blended systems called OPTIMAXX.

Two products in the OPTIMAXX HFO series—InsulStar 1.7 and InsulStar 2.0—are both closed-cell foams designed for residential or commercial use. Each is now available in three seasonal blends or speeds, tailored for optimal performance in different temperature ranges:

INSULSTAR OPTIMAXX 1.7 lb. (11-033)

  • Summer / Slow: 70°F and above

  • Regular: 40°–80°F

  • Winter / Fast: 30°–50°F

INSULSTAR OPTIMAXX 2.0 lb. (11-037)

  • Summer / Slow: 70°F and above

  • Regular: 40°–80°F

  • Winter / Fast: 10°–50°F

  • 2.0 lb. now also available in a high-altitude blend.

Mitch Clifton, NCFI’s Executive Vice President of Construction Foam, explains, “The complete OPTIMAXX line is engineered for maximum adaptability, enabling contractors to achieve higher yields while fine-tuning performance not only for the type of project, but also for seasonal conditions and altitude.”

Clifton emphasizes that the new blends place NCFI well ahead of the competition, “The 2.0 formulation is approved for below-grade damp-proofing and waterproofing of foundation walls, and it carries a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance for use as a retrofit under the roof deck to enhance wind uplift resistance in hurricane-prone areas. Both the 1.7 and 2.0 formulations have shown no detectable PFAS when tested according to the EPA’s Method 537.”

He adds, “We know the industry associations, along with the DOE and EnergyStar, are actively discussing this issue. Our contractors have been talking about it for years, so we made it a priority to bring the first generation to market for real-world testing by our United States of Spray Foam contractors.”

According to Clifton, the results align perfectly with NCFI’s legacy of innovation, “We’ve been pioneering SPF technology since 1964, and now we’re taking the U.S. building industry to places it never imagined possible.”
