VitaFlex Establishes New Benchmark for Protective Headwear with Soft-Stretch Hood

BURLINGTON, NC–June 26, 2013–VitaFlex, LLC sets the new standard for primary head protection: the VitaFlex Soft-Stretch Hood. It has been recognized to significantly improve an applicator's comfort, safety, and job efficiency, and has been selected by the Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry (INDA) as a finalist for the 2013 VISION Innovation Award.

CEO Al Blalock states, "VitaFlex is the only manufacturer that is creating elasticity from regular nonwoven fabrics. This revolutionary technology is latex-free and doesn't utilize elastomers. It provides a process for treating fabrics at high speeds, cost-effectively creating a wide range of practical elastic fabrics with unique performance characteristics. By using the latex-free elastic nonwoven fabric, new apparel can be made without attaching latex straps, and the automatic conversion VitaFlex developed is far less expensive than conventional methods."

The VitaFlex Soft-Stretch Hood surpasses conventional alternatives– hooded nonwoven coveralls and cotton spray socks– with its superior barrier functionality and excellent breathability. Its triple-layer structure provides a thin, yet dense, breathable barrier that effectively shields against SPF overspray. The soft-stretch hood is one-size-fits-all with excellent conformability. Its generous 19-inch length securely covers the entire head and neck. It is soft, allows the freedom of head movement, and retains a comfortable fit while being worn. Additional advantages include a dependable supply, low cost, reusability, and being 100% made in the USA.

Hooded nonwoven coveralls and cotton spray socks are the commonly used head cover for SPF applicators. Coveralls are stiff and hot, hindering the wearer's head movement and reducing their efficiency while also leaving the neck exposed. While working, its hood easily pulls away to expose the wearer's face. The main problem cotton spray socks is the porous nature of its knitted structure that allows particulates, like those of SPF overspray, to penetrate through the fabric. Then when dry, the polyurethane can pull out the wearer's hair when removing the sock. There are also other concerns about the spray socks being made from low-grade un-scoured cotton.

Dr. De-Sheng Tsai, President of VitaFlex and the inventor of latex-free elastic nonwovens, states, "VitaFlex has revolutionized the manufacturing of many new and innovative latex-free protective apparel that are 100% made in the USA. A new air-fed hood is currently in development to apply the soft-stretch conformability to replace the cumbersome suspension system used in the bucket type air-fed hood. Its viewing window is covered with a clear film. Air channels are embedded inside the hood. An extended inlet on the back is to connect with the air lines. The design for continuous conversion is patent-pending. The soft-stretch air-fed hood could be useful in spray foam, powder coating, and spray painting applications."

The VitaFlex Soft-Stretch Hood has been embraced by over 1,600 companies and contractors in numerous industries, including 340 in spray foam industry alone. Millions of hoods have been sold and customers continue to praise the hood on phone calls and online reviews.

"Once people try our new hood, they love it," says Flora Lin, Vice President of New Business Development. "Plus, a 10 percent discount will be applied to any order from the SprayFoam.com reader. Just use the code "sprayfoam.com" while ordering online or by phone before September 30."
