This issue, Spray Foam Magazine touches down in Quebec, Canada, to go behind the scenes with a polyurea coating innovator who is rewriting the rules of the RV coating game.

Jaret Whiteside has never believed in doing things halfway. Every new venture begins the same way: he immerses himself completely, determined to understand every aspect of the business, the technology, and the customer experience. He continuously refines, improves, and pushes the boundaries until he has developed something that truly stands apart. That commitment led him to launch EverShield, his own sprayed-on polyurea roofing system, along with a certified applicator network to ensure every installation meets the highest possible standards.

In 2021, after years of owning campers and RVs, Jaret grew frustrated with the endless cycle of roof maintenance, deteriorating caulking, and temporary leak repairs. Rather than accepting that constant upkeep was simply part of RV ownership, he set out to find a better, more permanent solution. That search led him to partner with a manufacturer capable of developing a high-performance polyurea roofing system engineered to withstand UV exposure and harsh climates; from scorching summer heat to freezing winter temperatures.

Jaret specializes in polyurea roofing solutions for RVs, travel trailers, fifth wheels, and campers, serving customers throughout Quebec and Ontario. The EverShield seamless polyurea roofing system creates a durable, waterproof, and UV-resistant protective barrier. As Jaret explains, “Unlike conventional RV roofs that rely on seams, sealants, and regular maintenance, our roofing technology is designed to eliminate common issues such as leaks, cracking, peeling, and other weather-related deterioration.”

RV roofs are especially vulnerable to leaks because they rely on seams, joints, and sealants that inevitably deteriorate over time. Jaret's goal was to develop a roofing system that eliminates these common failure points altogether, giving owners lasting peace of mind. As he explains, "Our philosophy is simple: Invest once. Protect forever."

The images feature a 2012 Elevation 36-foot toy hauler with multiple patches and tears in the original roof. After discovering the company through its advertising, the owner chose the EverShield system as a long-term solution to simplify maintenance and eliminate recurring roof issues. "Fortunately, the unit required no repair work, making the application very straightforward," says Jaret.

Because Jaret oversees both the roofing system and its installation, every project benefits from consistent quality control from start to finish, resulting in a true one-and-done solution.

According to Jaret, annual production varies because every RV presents unique conditions and requirements. On average, the company completes two to three projects per week across its two locations. Most jobs require a crew of two to four technicians, with much of the time dedicated to tear down and surface preparation. Thorough cleaning and preparation are essential to ensure the coating achieves a permanent, long-lasting bond.

Their equipment list is extensive. The most critical component is a high-quality reactor capable of maintaining both high pressure and temperature. “We typically spray at 2450 PSI and 165°F using a Reactor 3 E-XP2,” explained Jaret.

The PPE requirements depend on the environment and working conditions in which the crew is working. They use P100 respirators and replace cartridges frequently. Full Tyvek suits are worn during full-roof applications, and for smaller repairs, they still require full workwear, proper footwear, and masks. Any member of Jaret’s crew spraying, or within 30 feet of spraying without proper protection is at risk from airborne particles, even with proper ventilation systems.

When a new RV arrives, they begin with a detailed walkthrough with the client, explaining the entire process and documenting each stage with photos. Once the client leaves, they begin the teardown and proceed step by step through the application process. “We tend to work on older RVs rather than newer ones; however, we do occasionally receive brand-new units from owners who want to eliminate any future roof concerns from the start,” explains Jaret.

All applications are completed in a dedicated, enclosed spray booth equipped with multiple filtered exhaust fans, similar to an automotive paint booth. When the ventilation system is operating, it generates a powerful airflow that creates enough negative pressure to make the booth doors difficult to open. The EverShield roofing system is typically applied at a thickness of 1/8 to 3/16 inch, creating a durable, seamless membrane. Existing roof vents are replaced with new ones, and the company is currently developing lifetime aluminum vent options. Antennas and other rooftop components are also fully encapsulated during the application process. By coating over and around every roof penetration and fixture, the system integrates them into one continuous, watertight roofing membrane.

Because every installation is backed by a lifetime warranty, meticulous attention to detail is essential. The team takes the time to perfect each application, carefully inspecting every aspect of the installation to ensure the highest level of quality. The finished roofing system is engineered to withstand year-round exposure to harsh conditions, including hail, falling branches, ice storms, heavy rain, and prolonged UV exposure.

Each application is finished with a silicone-based UV coating to help keep the RV interior cooler during hot weather. Pricing is based on linear footage, and each project varies depending on roof features such as solar panels, vents, domes, Maxxair systems, and AC units. Each project takes four to six days, depending on the level of work required. While four days is common, EverShield prioritizes quality over speed and never rushes a job. Jaret stresses, “When our work is done, maintenance is minimal. Owners can simply wash the roof as desired and enjoy their RV. We do recommend occasional inspections to ensure vents and caps remain in good condition.”

Jaret, his crew, and the entire team appreciate that the EverShield system is doing so well. “We really work hard to make everyone happy with every job we do. I would like to thank our manufacturer, who supplies us with incredible products and customer service, and my staff who are phenomenal,” affirms Jaret.

Jaret had never been one to post on Facebook or YouTube, but he knew EverShield needed greater exposure. This past summer, he decided to share a few videos online. With modest expectations, he was surprised when they quickly surpassed 50,000 views. Since then, the response has been staggering, with the videos reaching more than 1.3 million views and EverShield’s following growing from roughly 300 to more than 6,300 followers. The content has attracted positive feedback from viewers around the world, many of whom have reshared it. Encouraged by the response, Jaret and his team have embraced creating videos and plan to continue producing content for their growing audience.

Chatting with Jaret was a true pleasure. His enthusiasm for his product, his employees, and all his clients is evident.
