Faulty Suspension System Causes Spray Foam Rig Fire
ADAMS COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA – April 9, 2026 – Crews responded to the National Cemetery parking lot in Adams County on Wednesday morning after a trailer carrying spray foam caught on fire, prompting a response from a hazmat team. Gettysburg Fire said firefighters and EMS responded to the National Cemetery parking lot off Taneytown Road for a reported vehicle fire. Upon arrival at the scene, crews found smoke coming from a 10×20 spray foam insulation trailer.
The fire department said the fire was brought under control, and the foam product was secured.
Further investigation revealed that the fire was caused by a faulty suspension system. The fire department said the broken suspension allowed the tire to rub against the trailer, igniting a fire.
The fire department determined the spray foam insulation product to be non-toxic. However, the incident prompted a response from the Adams County Emergency Management Agency and Haz-Mat personnel from Franklin County to clean up the area due to its close proximity to a storm drain.
