DC 315 Thermal Barrier Passes Over SWD Spray Foam Insulation Products
ELMENDORF, TX - April 26, 2011 - International Fireproof Technology Inc. (IFTI) announced this week that their thermal barrier coating DC 315 has passed NFPA 286 tests over SWD insulation products. Two of SWD’s most widely used foams were tested with DC 315 as a thermal barrier at Intertek; Quik-Shield® 106 1/2 pound foam and Quik-Shield® 112 2 pound foam. SWD Urethane now has a code-compliant thermal barrier solution to offer its applicators and IFTI has added yet another manufacturers foam products to its impressive testing portfolio.
According to IFTI Executive Vice President Gary Wolfe, “DC 315 passing both of SWD’s foam products just reinforces the performance of DC 315 in the spray foam industry. We are excited to have SWD as a new manufacturer partner and we look forward to working closely with SWD for many years.”
SWD Quik-Shield® 106 is 1/2 pound open cell insulation that offers an R-Value of 4.01 per inch, and can reduce heating and cooling costs by up to 40%. SWD Quik-Shield® 112 is a 2 pound closed cell product that is specifically formulated for application to low temperature substrates. Both Quik-Shield products are GREENGUARD Children & Schools certified, meeting stringent low VOC criteria for indoor air quality.
SWD President, Jim Perkins, stated “passing the NFPA 286 tests with DC 315, opens up even more applications for both Quik-Shield 106 and 112, and provides cost-effective alternatives to hanging ½ inch drywall.”
