Covestro Baytown Site Receives 2025 Caring for Texas Award for Safety, Sustainability and Community Impact
Covestro employees receive the Caring for Texas Award from the Texas Chemisty Council.

PITTSBURGH, PA June 5, 2026 – Covestro LLC, a world-leading supplier of high-tech polymer materials, announced that its Baytown, Texas site has been recognized with the 2025 Caring for Texas Award by the Texas Chemistry Council. The award honors member companies demonstrating outstanding performance and leadership in community engagement, safety, environmental stewardship, sustainability, and emergency response.

The Caring for Texas Award is presented annually to facilities that exemplify the highest standards of Responsible Care® principles and demonstrate measurable impact across operational excellence and community partnership. Covestro’s Baytown site was selected based on its strong safety culture, proactive environmental initiatives, and ongoing contributions to local community resilience and development programs.

“This recognition reflects the commitment of our Baytown team to operate safely, sustainably, and as a trusted neighbor in the community,” said Victor Ortega, Baytown site manager and senior vice president of Performance Materials and Operations North America. “We are proud of the work our employees do every day to uphold high standards in safety and environmental performance while also supporting meaningful community engagement across the Gulf Coast region.”

At the Baytown site, Covestro continues to advance initiatives focused on operational safety, emissions reduction, energy efficiency, digitalization, and emergency preparedness, while also investing in community programs that support education, workforce development, and local partnerships. Covestro has received the Caring for Texas Award for the past four consecutive years and has been honored 13 times since the award’s inception.

The Texas Chemistry Council’s Caring for Texas program highlights companies that go beyond compliance to demonstrate leadership in protecting people and the environment while strengthening the communities in which they operate.
