Arkema Sues HighChem Over HFO-1233zd(E) Patent Infringement in Japan

ARKEMA NEWS – September 18, 2026 – The lawsuit seeks an injunction against the defendant's import and sale, among other acts, of HFO-1233zd(E) (trans-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene), asserting the following two Japanese patents held by Arkema Inc.:

  • Japanese Patent No. 6149000, relating to blowing agents for thermosetting foams such as polyurethane foams,
  • and Japanese Patent No. 6205392, relating to heat transfer fluid compositions used as refrigerants.

The Group intends to continue to take appropriate measures, including legal action, to protect its intellectual property rights, which are essential to delivering innovative and sustainable solutions to its customers.
