Spray Foam Insulation Enables Comfortable Atmosphere Inside Party Pavillion

Spray Foam Insulation Enables Comfortable Atmosphere Inside Party Pavillion

EL PASO, TX - May 21, 2013 - When hosting an event indoors, one of the most important things to consider is the temperature in the room being pleasant. Spray foam insulation was thought to be the best source to achieve great indoor temperature quality by a Texas homeowner.

Having recently constructed a pavillion geared for entertainment purposes down the street from his residence, the owner wanted to have his new facility well insulated so that the environment inside would be comfortable when hosting his sporadic events. A team from New Era Spray Foam Insulation was chosen for the project, which consisted of applying SPF to the underside of the pavillion's roof as well as the walls of the structure.

"The benefit of a spray foam application, in this case, is that it provides the structure the ability to reach temperature quickly," said Rob Tollen, owner of New Era Spray Foam Insulation. "This way, the desired temperature will be easy to maintain when they host parties at the facility."

The party pavillion project was just a small part of a large scale project which involved the construction of water slides around the pavillion as well as the addition of an indoor racquetball, basketball and tennis courts - all on one big property.

Prior to the application, Tollen said that his crew had to mask the two-story windows on the site to avoid overspray inside and out of the pavillion. The crew had one trailer on site during the project and it was equipped with Graco Reactor E20 and E30 proportioners coupled with Graco Fusion ClearShot spray guns.

Using a scissor lift, the crew applied six inches of 1 lb. SucraSeal SPF insulation, an open-cell spray foam manufactured by SES Foam, on the roof and the walls for a total spray area of 9,000 square feet.

Tollen said that the only issue that his crew encountered was the height of the roof's deck noting that the lift could only go up to a certain point and, in order to spray the roof, the crew had to climb the rest of the way.

"They had to climb on top of the bottom part of the truss and tie off to the truss," said Tollen. "It was 18 feet from the roof to the bottom of the truss," said Tollen.

Tollen said that the temperature shift was instantly noticeable upon the job's completion.

"The temperature changed from one day to the next," Tollen said. "All the other trades working on the structure noticed the difference."

It took three days for the team of five people to complete the job and, according to Tollen, the owner's family was very pleased with the final product. The pavillion will now provide a comfortable atmosphere for future parties.

The pavillion is now complete with a sushi bar, a home theater, a rec room, a full-blown catering system and, not to mention, stellar insulation.
