Spray Foam Alliance (SPFA) Trade Show and Conference: A Big Success

AUSTIN, TX The Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance (SPFA) held its annual conference and exposition 11 – 14 January 2009 in Austin, TX. The conference was scheduled conveniently prior to several other large and relevant shows in the industry – IBS, World of Concrete and NRCA’s IRE. “The decision on timing and location was a real winner for us this year,” said Kurt Riesenberg, Executive Director of SPFA. “That along with some of the best content and speakers the industry has ever seen, delivered one valuable event for our members, attendees, exhibitors and sponsors,” he added.

That message certainly resonated with the turnout – attendance was estimated to be up nearly 50% from the prior year. While those estimates were provided by SPFA at the conference, it certainly felt that way with standing-room only breakout sessions, training sessions, sold-out Contractor Excellence Awards Luncheon and the crowd working the exhibit hall floor, which was also much larger than previous years. With other conferences struggling to deal with notable decreases in their attendance, this is quite a statement on the positive outlook and future of the SPF industry.

“This industry is really on the precipice of something big,” said Riesenberg. “The industry has absolutely come together at just this right time in history, with so much focus on energy efficiency, environmental stewardship, quality and jobs creation. The training offered at the conference is essential to making sure that our contractors are doing the best, and safest job possible. The breakout sessions and other speakers bring the latest information to attendees to keep them in front of changing market dynamics, and the exhibitors and sponsors show such tremendous support for the organization by turning out this strong in what is otherwise recognized as a challenging economic climate. All of this delivers a great experience to the attendees, which is my number one objective for the show. We have such a strong and positive message to get out – it is nice to see it all coming together now when it matters most.”
