Massachusetts Spray Foam Company Rises To Success With Outstanding Work And Customer Service

PEABODY, MASS – January 10, 2012 – Located at 23 Upton St. in Peabody, Mass., and servicing all of eastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire, Closed Cell Structures, LLC is a full service building envelope contracting company headed by Vice President of Operations Nick Williamson and company President Paul Dion.

Founded in 2006, Closed Cell Structures has been providing clients with one-of-a-kind customer service and quality spray foam application work despite working in a tough economic environment. Dion recently spoke with SprayFoam.com about his company’s rise to success as well as the company’s future endeavors.

Williamson and Dion were both introduced to spray foam insulation by the late applicator Mike Belleau. Williams and Dion began familiarizing themselves with spray foam in the spring of 2006 when they began using the material for insulation while working on remodeling projects for their own rental properties.

“I saw it as the future, and a superior insulation product compared to fiber glass and cellulose,” Dion said.

Satisfied with the material, Dion and Williamson opened their own spray foam contracting company that same year, and began working throughout the eastern Massachusetts region specializing in applying spray foam to the outside of building envelopes.

“We started spraying only closed-cell foam, and competed hard with the local open cell or Icynene dealers “ Dion said.  “Today, more than 75 percent of Closed Cell Structure’s revenue is still driven from installing closed-cell foam insulation.”

Working an even mix of residential and commercial buildings, the company has adapted to working with working with open-cell foam, as well as providing services for other forms of insulation, due to high market demand.

Mainly focusing their work in eastern Massachusetts and surrounding regions, Dion stated that the farthest job Closed Cell Structures ever worked involved the application of spray foam insulation for the “Foam Home” in Cornwall Bridge, Conn.

“It was one of farthest major projects we have ever done,” Dion said.

One of the company’s largest jobs involved the application of spray foam to the exterior building envelope for the 400,000-square-foot Hobbs Brooks Office Park in Waltham, Mass.

After three months, the Closed Cell Structures team successfully completed the project, but not without its challenges.

“It was an extremely windy area,” Dion said. “The foam was greatly affected by the weather, and the strict daily safety regulations and safety precautions often slowed down the work.”

During the winter months, the Closed Cell Structures crew was tasked with insulating the inside of the office building as new panels were to be installed the following spring. The job was completed on time and under budget.

“We were working the majority of the time indoors making pre-fabricated wall panels in a controlled environment during the cold winter months,” Dion said.

For the last four years, Closed Cell Structures has been working on several new construction and remodeling projects for high-end homes in northeastern Massachusetts.

“Each house is about 5,000 to 6,000 square feet,” Dion said. “With a two-man crew, we have been able to knock each on out in about a week. And since we’re spraying indoors, we have had no problem with the weather.”

The company has received praise and compliments from clients and homeowners since starting nearly six years ago.

“We have been told we actually achieved the lowest HERS rating in the nation because of our relationship with a client who specializes in the building of energy efficient, low-income houses,” Dion said. “He designs, and Closed Cell Structures executes.”

The company is looking forward to its continued involvement for the ongoing project, Dion said.

For the future, the company has planned to continue its involvement with insulating exterior building envelops, as well as planning a release of a new, innovated continuous wall and roofing system later this year.

“We’re always looking to build relationships with builders, architects and developers who are interested in energy efficiency,” Dion said.
