Dow’s North America Residential Building Insulation Business Announces New GM

MIDLAND, Mich. – May 25, 2010 – The Dow Chemical Company announced today that Scott Young, global energy efficiency portfolio director and strategic market manager for Dow’s North America residential building insulation business, has been named president and general manager of its subsidiary Dow Roofing Systems LLC (DRS).
Young assumes these responsibilities from Victor Dean, who was named to the position in July 2009. Since that time, Dean was responsible for the successful transition and integration of the Stevens Roofing business within Dow. With the integration now complete, Young will assume the role, bringing a depth of industry experience, knowledge and background to help further accelerate sales and drive growth.
“Scott is uniquely positioned for his role as general manager of DRS because of his significant industry knowledge and extensive network across the building industry,” said Mike McGaugh, vice president and general manager, Dow Building Solutions, North America. “He is a recognized leader and his depth of experience in the business will enable him to accelerate the value proposition for our customers.”
In addition to his recent appointment as president for the Extruded Polystyrene Foam Association (XPSA), Young will represent DRS as a board member for the Center for Environmental Innovation Association. He will also continue to participate on the Sustainable Advisory Council for Habitat for Humanity International.
Since joining Dow Canada in 1989, Young has held various sales, marketing, and commercial development roles. He transferred to Midland, Michigan in 1996 to assume business leadership positions in market research, new business development, operational and strategic marketing across multiple geographies and business segments within Dow Building Solutions .
Young attended the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada and holds an MBA from Northwood University. He is also a University of Cambridge, Prince of Wales-Business and Environment Program Alumni.
