CPI Awards Distinguished Leadership Award to Bill Robert of BASF Corporation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 20, 2014 – The Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI) of the American Chemistry Council (ACC) has awarded the CPI Distinguished Leadership Award to Bill Robert of BASF Corporation Performance Materials Group.

Robert received his Masters in Occupational and Environmental Health from Wayne State University, Detroit, and became a Certified Industrial Hygienist.

Robert, who works for BASF as a product steward, has been active in product stewardship outreach to downstream users through various groups such as CPI's Product Stewardship Group, the ACC Diisocyanates Panel and the International Isocyanate Institute, among others.

CPI Senior Director Lee Salamone said as she presented the award to Robert: "Bill was instrumental in the successful development and execution of CPI's product stewardship programs on spray polyurethane foam, and he has personally trained and advised countless users of isocyanate materials. For the CPI staff, Bill is a trusted source of information and a mentor."

"Bill is a tremendous advocate for BASF and for the Polyurethane industry. The achievement award is a well-deserved recognition of his dedication to the industry and testament to his long list of contributions," said Gerry Podesta, Senior Vice President, BASF Performance Materials North America and CPI Steering Committee Chair.

The award was presented during the Opening Session of the 2014 Polyurethanes Technical Conference on Monday, Sept. 22, in Dallas.

The Distinguished Leadership Award is conferred when CPI believes that an individual's activities, energy and commitment to innovation, product stewardship and sound science have contributed to the sustainability and betterment of the industry. The honoree is chosen by the Senior Director of CPI in consultation with the CPI Steering Committee.
