Spray Foam Magazine – Late Summer 2026 – On a quiet country road in Aberdeen, Mississippi, surrounded by rolling hills and cattle pastures, a luxury custom home is taking shape. While the setting may be laid-back, the pace of work in this home is anything but slow. The contemporary cottage-style residence features 3,800 square feet of living space and more than 4,500 square feet under roof. Spray foam insulation is being applied from top to bottom between two-by-six framing.

Mike Callahan, owner of Callahan Foam Insulation and Concrete Lifting, and his crew were hard at work with two rigs, each running a PMC Mach 2 Dual Gun Proportioner. While two sprayers managed the walls, the other two worked from scaffolds to complete the attic. The Aberdeen project was built by JCL Construction of Amory, Mississippi. Owners Lee Ferguson, Justin Simmons, and Colby Burks have partnered with Callahan Foam Insulation on numerous projects and continue to trust the company whenever spray foam insulation is specified.

The home was insulated with three and a half inches of open-cell spray foam in the walls and five and a half inches in the attic using six sets of Eco Foam material. Combined with an inverter HVAC system and whole-house dehumidifier, the insulation system provides enhanced energy efficiency, moisture control and year-round comfort, which are important considerations in Mississippi’s hot, humid climate.

Double the Guns, Double the Productivity

A major factor in the project’s efficiency is Callahan’s unique equipment setup.

Each of the two spray foam rigs is equipped with a PMC Mach 2 Dual Gun Proportioner, 250 feet of PMC hose and a 10 foot hose whip for each side. Despite the size of the project, the entire spray foam installation was completed in less than two days, from prep work to completion, thanks to skilled sprayers and four guns operating simultaneously.

For contractors facing tight schedules and demanding production requirements, that level of output means they can complete projects faster and take on more work than would be possible with a standard single gun proportioner.

For Callahan, however, productivity is only part of what makes the Mach 2 the right choice.

“The Mach 2’s have been used almost daily since I’ve had them, and I have no issues with downtime,” Callahan said. “My crew loves that the machine actually teaches you how to use it because it is so intuitive and tells you what it’s doing.”

According to Callahan, the Mach 2’s touchscreen interface provides clear data and diagnostics, including low-chemical warnings and ratio monitoring, which simplify troubleshooting and maintenance.

He also appreciates the machine’s ability to keep crews productive when issues arise. “If a mixing chamber gets clogged or a gun stops working, we can shut off one side and keep spraying,” he said. “With a single-gun machine, that could stop production. With the Mach 2, we’re able to keep working while dealing with the issue.”

The system’s remote monitoring capabilities also allow Callahan to view machine performance and track his rigs and crews from his phone or laptop, providing valuable oversight across active job sites.
