Richmond Hill City Center Goes Green with Spray Foam Insulation

RICHMOND HILL, GEORGIA - February 10, 2011 - The Richmond Hill City Center in Georgia is now LEED Certified, reports the Bryan County News. The center opened to the public in April of last year and was constructed by JT Turner Construction. Located in J.F. Gregory Park, the facility covers 22,800 square feet and is designed to host weddings, events and meetings.

One of the primary technologies that is helping the facility retain its rating is spray foam insulation, in addition to other green building materials, paint and a strong recycling program which reused about 200 tons of construction waste. 

"It's a very nice accomplishment, I think," city manager Mike Melton said during a council meeting last week, according to the newspaper. 

Spray foam insulation makes perfect sense for large LEED Certified installations because it creates an airtight building envelope that reduces heating and cooling costs. In the case of the Richmond Hill City Center, the insulation should significantly cut electricity expenses for air conditioning during the sweltering Georgia summers.

New propellant and storage technologies have also helped render the application of spray foam insulation a greener process, making it the obvious choice for projects large and small.
