Home Renovations with Foam Insulation and Energy-Saving Windows and Doors May Yield Rebates

The House of Representatives approved a new economic stimulus bill this May that could lead to thousands of dollars in rebates for homeowners who renovate their homes with better insulation and energy-saving windows and doors.

The so-called Home Star bill is a short-term program to create jobs, save energy, and lower families' energy bills. The bill, which passed 246 to 161, would authorize $5.7 billion over two years for a program that is expected to have the added benefits of invigorating the slumping construction industry and making the Earth a little cleaner.

Besides just adding insulation in the attic, ensuring that the existing recessed lights are covered with a light cover made out of fire resistant material such as the TENMAT FF130E and FF135 will further improve the energy efficiency and provide a safe, piece of mind solution.

It is widely know that any gaps in ceiling insulation dramatically reduce the overall performance of the insulation, typically insulation performance is reduced by 50% if only 5% of the ceiling area is not fully insulated. The use of TENMAT Recessed Light Covers allow the insulation to be continuous and uninterrupted over the whole area of the ceiling reducing air flow through the recessed light by 92% and saving energy.
