Deadlines Approaching for EPA Grant Proposals

WASHINGTON, D.C. - March 28, 2012 - The Environmental Protection Agency has issued a request for proposals regarding two substantial grants that are fair game to many in the spray foam industry. 

The first is a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant. This grant aims to find a home in advanced technologies that address environmental issues. The $80,000 grants will be awarded to organizations that will use it to develop environmental technology. There are also opportunities to continue to a Phase 2 level of grant funding, with more funds allocated. Technologies related to spray foam (such as low-VOC coatings) have been past recipients of this grant, said Carol Hetfield, an advisor at EPA.

The second request for proposals regards environmental workforce development and job training. 

The funds from this grant will go towards organizations that will deliver environmental workforce development and job training programs that recruit, train, and place local, unemployed and under-employed residents with the skills needed to secure full-time employment in the environmental field, with a focus on solid and hazardous waste remediation, environmental health and safety, and wastewater-related training.

EPA hopes to accept several proposals, and the grants can be up to $100,000 for three years. The deadline for proposals is April 12, and you can find more information here.
