Canada Warm Polyurethane: Profile of an Up-and-Coming Spray Foam Company

WINNIPEG, MB – July 18, 2011 – The creation of a spray foam company came to be with an interest in building homes. Michael Welenchenko, owner of Canada Warm Polyurethane, did just this with his company, Canada Warm Polyurethane. In an interview with Sprayfoam.com, Welechenko speaks of the recent creation of his company and their success.

Located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Warm Polyurethane (Canada Warm) was just recently established as a spray foam company. The idea of starting up a spray foam company came to Welechenko with his interest in the building of Monolithic Dome homes.

“I have always dreamed of building Dome homes,” said Welechenko. “I was always fascinated by how the they were constructed, especially the material that was used in the insulation. Polyurethane spray foam is the only form of insulation that is used in these homes. It is the best material for air insulation; keeps the house warm during the winter and cool during the summers.”

Prior to the creation of Canada Warm, Welechenko was living in British Columbia. “I owned a landscaping company,” said Welechenko. “While I was working I did a lot of research in the spray foam industry.”

Combined with his interest in building Dome homes as well as an interest in spray foam insulation, Welechenko moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba to establish himself in the spray foam industry. Shortly after moving, Welechenko attended the Polyurethane Foam Systems Inc. (PFSI) foam school at their Waterloo, Ontario office for certification.

Following his completion of the foam school, Welechenko, in September of 2010, opened Canada Warm Polyurethane.

“Since opening Canada Warm we have done very well,” said Welechenko. “We have received a lot of positive customer feedback. “

Acting as the current owner, Welechenko also works with two other employees. “I have one full time and one part-time worker,” he said. “Since I am the owner I do a lot of business with customers. I am, however, a very hands-on person. While I am answering the phones I am also out in the field spraying the foam.”

Canada Warm is currently working all over Manitoba as well as in in Northwest Ontario. “A good majority of our client base are living in small cottages in the Ontario country side,” said Welechenko. “With a lot of people retiring and moving from the city to the countryside, there are a lot of homes being built, which gives us an opportunity to spray.”

Although the company has not done any work in the United States, Welechenko expresses interest in possibly doing some spray foam jobs in northern North Dakota as well as Minnesota.

Even though Canada Warm has only been in business for less than a year, Welechenko and his team have dealt with numerous jobs.

“One of of the most unique jobs I have ever done will always be my first one,” he said. “It will always be memorable.”

On his company’s first assignment, Welechenko and his team were tasked with spraying a 200 square foot oil truck for a construction company in Ontario.

Welechenko adds, “It was a very small truck and the company was having problems trying to keep the oil warm. They used every form of insulation at their disposal and they could not get the oil to warm. One of the workers recommended using spray foam and hired our company to do the job. We were successful and we done in about two hours.”

In the future, Welechenko hopes to become one of the biggest spray foam companies in Manitoba. “That is just one of the goals,” he said. “I also want to better educate the people of Manitoba about the many benefits of spray foam insulation.”

In addition to one day expanding his company and educating potential customers about spray foam, Welechenko still has plans to build his Dome home.
