American WeatherStar Honors Client for Superior Work

MOBILE, AL - February 16, 2012 - American WeatherStar is pleased to announce the first recipient of its 2012 “Spotlight On Excellence” as the urethane/silicone system with solar power panels on Planet Self Storage in in Hyde Park, MA, recently completed by DMGC Weathertight.

The Details:

Installer: DMGC Weathertight

Job Location: Hyde Park, MA

Customer: Planet Self Storage

AWS System Installed: Urethane/Silicone System with Solar Power Panels

The owners of Planet Self Storage in Hyde Park, MA, near Boston, researched and planned for months, reviewing Solar Panel Electrical Systems and a new roofing system in order to get the most out of their Solar Power System.

The goal of any Solar Power System is to generate enough electricity on site in order for that building to be self sufficient by making enough electricity to where the business only purchases minimal, if any, power from the local power company. In many cases a building can even generate enough power to where it sells energy back to their power company at times.

A key component to a successful install is an energy efficient roofing system that reflects UV. Many Solar Panel Systems use the reflectivity of the roof to help generate the power for the building.

Planet Self Storage chose AWS Dealer DMGC in Monson, MA to install the American WeatherStar Urethane/Silicone System before installing their new solar panel system. This system offers the durability of the AWS Urethane 520 along with the reflectivity and UV stability of the AWS Silicone 410 which is also Energy Star and CRRC rated for its reflectivity and energy efficiency.

The integration of the Coating System and Solar Panel System was key to the success of the project. The two systems were installed in stages to maximize the benefits of each. DMGC first prepared the roof for a coating system and then applied the base coat of Urethane 520. Then the Solar Power Panel company came in and installed the brackets to the roof and deck that the panels would be attached to. DMGC then went through the process of ensuring the brackets themselves were water-tight before installing the top coat of Silicone 410.

The newly installed Coating and Solar Panel System will offer the building many years of service life and efficiency for their building.
