U.S. Green Building Council’s Greenbuild China Coming to Shanghai Oct. 23-24, 2018

SHANGHAI, CHINA—May 24, 2018—USGBC announced that the second Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in China will be held October 23 to 24—in the tallest building in China and the second tallest in the world, Shanghai Tower. Greenbuild is the world’s largest green building conference platform.

“Greenbuild is a powerful global platform that enables leaders from across the green business community to unite and lay the foundation for a healthier, more sustainable way forward,” said Mahesh Ramanujam, President and CEO, USGBC and GBCI. “As an innovative and state-of-the-art LEED Platinum building, Shanghai Tower is the perfect venue to host this year’s Greenbuild China.”

The announcement was made at Shanghai Tower during a joint ceremony between Ramanujam and Gu Jianping, general manager of Shanghai Tower Construction and Development Co., Ltd. Shanghai Tower includes innovative green building technologies, building materials and operational strategies designed to ensure consistent environmental quality and reduced emissions and impact, as well as highly efficient use of renewable resources that help reduce energy and water.

Of nations outside the U.S., mainland China ranks number one on USGBC’s Top Countries and Regions for LEED and is home to 1,240 projects using LEED, totaling more than 48 million gross square meters of building space. USGBC’s LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the world’s most widely used green building rating program.

Greenbuild China will take place over two days and offer speakers, networking opportunities, industry showcases and workshops on the LEED green building program. The Greenbuild China conference will take place October 23–24.
