The 2013 ICAA Convention & Trade Show Kicks Off in Tucson
TUCSON, AZ–October 3, 2013–Bringing the insulation industry together on an annual basis, the latest ICAA Convention & Trade Show commenced today in Tucson, Arizona. The 2013 convention is taking place at the Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort, and SprayFoam.com is on site to cover the proceedings.
"Sky's the Limit" is the theme of this year's convention, which began on Thursday morning with introductions by ICAA President Ted Blanchard and Executive Director Michael Kwart, and transitioned into the ICAA Committee Meetings, including the Government Council, the Commercial Committee, and the Technical/Marketing Committee.
The morning continued with several special presentations that included topics like securing payment on a job, spray foam ventilation guidelines, in-depth job costing techniques, evaluating retrofit initiatives, properly equipping spray foam rigs, and SPF design guidelines. A new SPF trimmer called the Magnum Tru-Cut, designed by Bullet Tools, was also demonstrated before the audience.
Additionally, there was a presentation by JobPro Technology about recent insulation sales trends, based on the company's data directly from contractors. The data showed clear upward trends in the average price of residential and commercial jobs, across all types of insulation. Data on SPF showed two-different trends: a downward trend in the price per sq. ft. of open-cell jobs under 5.5 inches and an upward trend in the price per sq. ft. of open-cell jobs over 5.5 inches. JobPro suggested increasing competition could be a cause of the falling price of thinner open-cell jobs.
Also of note during the special presentations was the debut of Graco InSite, a new job reporting technology developed by Graco Inc. and 2-Track. InSite allows spray foam business owners to know in real time what their SPF proportioners are doing: on or off, spraying or not spraying, volume of material installed, the location, etc.
The convention then shifted gears to the Platinum Educational Sessions, which covered topics like sales and marketing, apps and smart technology, the coming construction boom, and understanding energy ratings.
After the educational sessions wrapped up, the show floor was opened during the Grand Opening Evening Reception. Insulation contractors mixed and mingled with industry suppliers amidst booths that featured both current products and newly debuted ones.
