Johns Manville Announces Higher R-value for JM Corbond III Insulation

DENVER, CO – September 20, 2013 – Johns Manvile (JM), a Berkshire Hathaway company and leading building products manufacturer, today announced that JM Corbond III® closed-cell spray polyurethane foam insulation now delivers an R-value of R-7 per inch, a change that translates to a nine percent increase in thermal resistance compared to the previous R-6.4 per inch.

While maintaining its superior sprayability and signature lavender color, JM Corbond III now requires significantly less product to deliver the desired R-value. For example, contractors now need only 5.5 inches of spray foam to achieve an R-38, compared to the previously needed six inches. This also means that contractors can achieve an R-21 in a 2x4 cavity with one three-inch pass.

The new and improved product R-value is the result of formula optimization and general product improvements. The enhancement of JM Corbond III is effective immediately.

"By optimizing JM Corbond III to increase its R-value, we're helping our customers meet their performance goals in less time and with less product," said Fred Stephan, senior vice president of Insulation Systems at Johns Manville. "We have our customers' bottom line in mind, which is why we're constantly seeking opportunities to improve and expand our product offerings to deliver the broadest range of insulation products on the market."

JM Corbond III can be used alone or installed together with JM fiber glass insulation to create custom thermal solutions for residential, commercial and industrial applications. JM Corbond III insulation is a proven closed-cell foam building insulation, providing superior thermal, moisture and cold-temperature performance and dimensional stability. It can be applied at temperatures as low as 25 degrees Fahrenheit (-4 degrees Celsius).
