Principia Releases Comprehensive Report Focusing on Spray Polyurethane Foam Industry

MALVERN, PA – March 12, 2013 – As the housing industry in the U.S. is making a comeback, so too is the spray foam industry, according to Ken Jacobson, a partner at Principia, a building products marketing and consulting firm. Principia has recently released a 2013 report on the spray polyurethane foam industry, which stands as an update to the company’s well-received 2009 report.

“A lot of companies know us as a result of our 2009 report,” said Jacobson. “We have looked at the overall insulation business four different times – the most recent being late last year – this report is a subset of that. We are doing a deeper dive into this analysis.”

As for the particulars of the report, Jacobson noted the spray foam industry has changed a great deal in the past few years, especially with the introduction of new green and bio-based products. Also, there is more awareness of the product, due in part to energy rebate incentives and building code requirements.

“There are a lot of positive forces within the industry that will mean faster growth,” he said. “There is more consumer awareness and recognition by other insulation suppliers as well – mainly fiberglass – who realize the threat and opportunity of spray foam and are sticking their toe in the water, probably as a hedge against any encroachment into traditional applications.”

Although the report is available to anyone, Jacobson said it is mostly targeted to suppliers, systems houses, equipment companies, and companies who are potentially interested in making an investment in the industry.
