Eastern Contractor Services Applies Spray Foam to Residential Camelot

MINE HILL, NJ – July 24, 2012 – For two months last summer, Eastern Contractor Services joined forces with five other contractor teams to complete a façade project in Hackensack. The project is the largest façade restoration project ever to be completed in the state of New Jersey. 

The 22 story residential building, known as Camelot, needed restoration due to moisture damage in the curtain wall system. Moisture buildup required a complete steel and curtain wall replacement.

Five contractor crews were called in to do the job. Eastern Contractor Services was one of the five.

“Contractors pulled down the existing façade, then we sprayed the foam,” said Michael Quinn of Eastern Contractor Services, “It was a real challenge spraying the 220 foot building from a motorized scaffolding.”

“There’s always a lot of wind when you’re that high up,” said Quinn, “You have to deal with all types of weather, and what you don’t realize is the climate changes when you reach a certain elevation.”

Climate and wind weren’t the only challenges the team faced. Since Camelot was surrounded by other residential buildings, the teams had to make sure they were extra careful.

“We had to do a lot of prep work because of the residential area,” said Quinn. “We had to be aware that we were surrounded by other buildings and parking lots full of vehicles.”

“We also had to make sure that we rigged the hoses properly, so they wouldn’t be damaged on the moving scaffolding,” said Quinn.

Despite the many challenges, the Camelot project was completed safely and efficiently as New Jersey’s largest façade restoration project yet.
