| Comments | (E) 2200 sq ft stick framed house with 4/12 roof pitch has R30 batt in attic ceiling but nothing on the rafter bays but foil-faced roof sheeting. Done in 2005, attic is walkable, gable sides in attic not insulated. Gets too warm inside house - looking to blow in foam or other options. 2 x 8 CJs 16" o.c.; in some places 12" o.c. Black roof shingles didn't help. Has eave vents, sidewall gable vents, eyebrow roof vents, a roof ventilator on thermostat; air conditioning unit works but the cool just disappears 20 min. later. 5/8" drywall throughout. R-15 in walls batt; R-19 underfloor batt throughout; either spray the roof 3" for R-20 or lift up the batt ceilings and spray those 2 x 6 CJs bays and put the bats back; or put more R-30 in the attic ceilings? Looking for the best result. |
