                            Spray Foam on Commercial Duct
Hi Mason, I have a church in NJ where I want to CC Spray Foam the exterior of the ductwork on the roof . We're following IMC/2015 and Section 604.3 seems like it doesn't allow any product with smoke-developed index of >50. (I don't see any exception for exterior ductwork.) I saw back in this 2010 post https://sprayfoammagazine.com/forum/topic/foam-on-mechanical-ducts/2532 that you said "You can use SPF on ducts on the exterior of the building, for example, roof top equipment." Can you provide any further information or clarification. Thanks! |

However, the ICC codes are modified every 3 years and I do see that the 2015 codes specifically list construction of ductwork materials and insulation to abide by the 25/50 rule. I believe the 2018 codes specifically exempt spray foam from this rule, but I am double checking with my ICC codes experts. Will let you know. |
