Is a Thermal Barrier required 20' above ACT?
It is my understanding that ACT (acoustical ceiling tile) does not meet the thermal barrier requirements unless it the tile and grid are 1-hr rated. Is there a distance above non-rated ACT at which the spray foam insulation no longer has to be coated with a thermal barrier to separate it from the occupants below, say 20'?

To my knowledge there is no distance specifically designated in the codes. |
