Prescriptive Vs. Intumescent
When reading the ESR reports some mention both a prescriptive ignition barrier and an intumescent paint. What is the difference in these two things?

Thanks in advance

A precriptive igniton barrier would one that is specifically mentioned in the building codes such as 1.5 inches of mineral fiber, 3/8 inch drywall, 0.0016 inches of metal, 0.25 inches of wood.

All intumescent coatings must be tested with the specific foam that it is to be used in a room corner test in order to obtain ICC ES approval (and an ICC evaluation report)
