Penta-BDEs in foam as a fire retardant?
There presently is a thread in one of the forums of the Journal of Light Construction, concerning the use of penta BDE in foams as a fire retardant. Any thoughts here?

I recently attended Demilec school and if I'm not mistaken, it seems like I remember someone saying Demilec products did NOT contain Penta BDE. I couldn't say for sure though.

The original poster's comments were:

I recently read some polyurethane spray insulations may contain a chemical called Penta-BDE which acts as a fire retardant. Although a narrow causal link between exposure to Penta-BDEs and negative health outcomes has been established there is enough concern about such a correlation to motivate research into this question eg.

Demilec was evasive about the question and I am waiting for someone higher up the ladder to get back to me.

The soy based (Base 501?) poly people said their product does not contain Penta BDEs but won't say what it does contain because the information is proprietary.

Does anyone have solid information about a poly spray insulation that doesn't come with this worry?

Another said BDE has been banned in Maine.

Freedom Foam doesn't contain any Penta-BDEs.

Corbond does not include any Penta BDE. I would suggest to ask your individual supplier.
