Peel and Stick Solar Panels
Hey Mason,

I recognize your face from the SPFA conference in Austin.

What can you tell all of us SPF roofers about up-and-coming solar technology.

I have noticed that "thin-film" solar is becoming more popular. These panels are light and flexible and lay down right on the roof (as opposed to being elevate on racks).

Sika looks like they are selling a panel that is integrated into single-ply. Another company, Lumeta Solar is selling one that sticks right down on single-ply and modified bitumen.

Do you know of any solar panel systems that can be rolled out right on top of foam. If so, does this pose risks for blisters or other technical problems?

Thanks,
Brian

I am not familiar with peel and stick solar panels. But, I know of a few sprayfoam contractors that are getting into PV panels along with their sprayfoam roofing. Check out Central Coating and Dura Foam's websites for more details.

Thanks for the reply Mason.

Yeah, I talked with John Nolan about his solar program at SPFA Austin. Sounds like he is ahead of the curve on this one.

Thanks for the insight.

Brian
