There is a whole section on system grounding in the IRC (Section 3507) that defines requirements for grounding of electrical equipment, wiring and components but it doesn't specifically mention lightning rods. At the very least, the codes would require the wiring to be the appropriate size to handle expected currents and to be insulated and grounded according to code requirements. Any help out there?
