Spray Foam Magazine – Fall 2025 – Hey contractors, did you know? You drive a rolling billboard. Every time you hit the road, stop for gas, or pull up to a jobsite, there are potentially hundreds of eyes on your rig. What does your work vehicle really say about your business?

At the 2025 SprayFoam Convention & Expo in Daytona Beach, Corrine Tam of Elastochem delivered a presentation on marketing essentials for spray foam pros, and her message was clear: your truck is prime advertising real estate. Use it wisely.

Whether you’re fully wrapping your rig or just adding some key decals, here’s how to make your rig’s design work for you, as well as some common pitfalls to avoid.

1. DO stick to the essentials.

DON’T overcrowd the design.

You don’t have to write a novel to get your message across. A rig with too much text is difficult to read while it’s in motion. Your rig should instantly answer three simple questions at a glance:

  • Who are you? (Company name and logo).
  • What do you do? (Tagline-- Spray foam, concrete lifting, roofing systems, etc).
  • How can we contact you? (Phone number, website, social media, or a QR code to all of the above).

2. DO prioritize legibility.

DON’T use small or fancy fonts.

Big, bold fonts are your best friend. Choose typefaces that are easy to read from a distance, and make sure there’s enough contrast between the text and background colors (think white-on-black rather than gray-on-silver). Script or serif fonts look cool in print, but are hard to read from the road. Clear, blocky fonts are best for signage.

3. DO choose high-quality images.

DON’T use low-res or blurry photos.

Fuzzy photos look sloppy. Your graphics should be clean and crisp. Vector files are ideal for logos because they can be scaled to any size without losing quality– your friendly neighborhood graphic designer can tell you more.

4. DO keep it tidy.

DON’T skip maintenance.

We know you’re busy, but roaming around in a dirty rig sends the wrong message. A monthly trip to the car wash during lunch is all it takes to maintain a squeaky clean image.

5. DO show some personality.

DON’T neglect digital platforms.

Love puns and wordplay? Now’s your chance! A clever slogan like “Foam Sweet Foam” or “Spray It, Don’t Delay It” can make your rig memorable and spark a conversation that leads to a phone call or a follow. Speaking of, be sure to include social and website links along with other contact info. Show off your company’s personality by keeping these platforms up to date.

6. DO provide a call to action.

DON’T forget about the back.

A call to action (CTA) prompts your audience to do something. It’s the “like and subscribe” of marketing, but yours will probably be along the lines of, “save on your power bill by giving us a call.” Putting the CTA and other details on the rear of the rig is a great use of prime ad space. After all, someone staring at your taillights might have a drafty attic, and you could be the solution they’ve been waiting for.

So what are you waiting for? Use these rockin’ tips to polish your rig-wrap design, then sit back and listen as the sales calls roll in.
